“The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the person who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.”

Matthew 13:22

Sometimes I feel like I’ve let myself be choked by the world, forgetting that Christ humbled Himself beyond what I can comprehend to endure every past present and future sin of mine so that I can rest in the knowledge that my life is hidden with Christ in God – trading in a life condemned under the law for a burden that is easy and a yoke that is light.
But I look around and see lives of excitement and travel and leisure and comfort and I think that looks really nice.
So I settle for a life of unfruitfulness – of being choked by what I think will bring me peace and fulfillment.
